LinkedIn Enamel Pins

I worked on a project to create enamel pins for LinkedIn employees. The brief was to create pins based on the logo. I used Sketch to make a basic SVG design and then extruded it in Fusion 360. After that, I sent it to a 3D print shop and tried various materials for the masterpiece that would be used for rubber mold die casting. However, there were issues with creating the mold since the piece had thin borders. Subsequently, I got the masterpiece made in brass using CNC milling which worked perfectly. Sub-contractors did all the manufacturing stages - casting, soldering of the back pin, electroplating and enameling- with quality checks after every stage.

Each month, LinkedIn gives its employees a day to focus on themselves, the company, and the world. A day to invest, inspire, and innovate. That day is called Investment Day, or "InDay" for short.

  1. Castable Resin 3D Print - The piece broke due to an incorrect choice of material.

  2. High-Resolution Blue 3D Print - The piece survived and was used to create a rubber mould. However, quality issues arose.

  3. A small batch was produced in mould created from a High-Resolution Blue 3D Print master. Borders were not Uniform.

  4. Final Piece produced in mold created from brass masterpiece(CNC Milling)
